    Default Input on trading a .17hmr for 2 .22lrs?

Currently I have a scoped Savage 93r17 with stainless steel bull barrel and about 400 rounds. It's a great shooter, but from what I understand it's varmint only. You COULD eat what it shoots if you get a headshot on it, but keep the round off the body or else you'll have bits of shrapnel through it.

I've been thinking of trading that all in for 2 Cricketts for the kids. As is I've got a crap ton of .22s and don't see a real reason to keep around a .17hmr considering I've got .223, 30.06 and so on. It has no real place but the trade could benefit the kids.

Any REAL reason to NOT do this? Anything I'm overlooking? TIA for any input!

Any reason you can't shoot something other than V-max?

The GamePoint dimple-tip bullet mushrooms like a big game bullet instead of fragmenting like a varmint bullet. This greatly reduces damage to edible meat and the hides of furbearing animals. This ammunition is new production and non-corrosive.

    or...

Sub-MOA accuracy and flat trajectory at long range make this the perfect choice for hunting small game and varmints at long range. No expansion means reduced meat and hide damage. This ammunition is new production and non-corrosive.

Probably no reason but the cost of .17 rounds sucks compared to .22! lol

Sell the .17 - 2 is 1, and 1 is none. Get the guns for the kids. Plus shooting the .22s are more fun to shoot in my book! If ya need extra punch pick up a .22WMR later.

Thanks Bogey but why? Not being smart, just wondering why some would hold on to it.

Kind of my thoughts about it but like I said, I need input in case I'm missing something! Thanks!

Gotcha Bogey, thank you! Yeah, probably could. I haven't gotten that indepth with it but I've used it enough to know it's a good shooter. I look at things in a practical way though. This was a gift to me and I use .22s way more! lol

This!! But pick up something better than crickets. When my little ones(18 mo and one in utero) im gonna pick up one of those .22/.410 combos that when they get older can be switched into adult stocks. I forget the company.
