LTCF / NJ Expungement / Character Clause

I have been a PA resident for the past 2 months, and currently reside in Cumberland County.

I would like to apply for my LTCF, but I have a few concerns...

First a little background.

In 2006 I was charged with Aggravated Assault in the state of New Jersey. I successfully completed the PTI (Pre-Trial Intervention) program.

In August 2011, I filed (in NJ) for an Expungement of my criminal record. I received a signed Expungement order from the Judge last month (October 2011).

From what I understand, since my record is expunged, I should now be eligible for a LTCF.

I'm just concerned about the speed in which my charges are removed from the system.

My question is this:

1. Should I apply for my LTCF now, and if it's denied, have my lawyer contact them with proof of my expungement.

1a. If this happens to be the case, will I be turned down based on the character clause.

2. Should I wait a few months, and hope that I'm removed from the system, and apply then?

If I can clarify anything please let me know.

This sounds like a very often asked question here. Sorry I don't have an answer for you. But, soon to follow my post will probably be many others advising you to contact your lawyer before you apply for the LTCF.
