    Default Positive LEO non-encounter

I went up to the public shooting range in Wexford today with my brother and my friend. Since it was a nice day, I decided to OC my Beretta 92A1. This was only my fourth time ever OC'ing and I had not yet encountered law enforcement while OC'ing before.

On the way back, we decided to stop at the Wendy's in Edgewood Towne Centre in Swissvale which is near my house. We ordered our food and sat down to eat. Mid-way through our meal, two officers from the Rankin Police Department stop in, order food, and sit down to eat. I am still hungry, so I instruct my brother to start recording if they approach me, and I walk up to the counter to order some french fries. I get my food and start walking past the officers back to my table. One of the officers eyes me up and says something to his buddy which I couldn't discern but I'm sure he was talking about me. I sit down expecting them to come over, but they never do. Five minutes later, they finish eating, get up, and leave without saying a word. No "Hey Junior" or anything.

I had my OC flyers and even had the 2009 MPOETC update pages that relate to OC as recommended by the "Open carry and what you should know before you do it" sticky thread. I was rehearsing my "Am I being detained or am I free to go" speech in my head, and then... nothing!

I'm not sure if the reason they didn't hassle me was because they were properly trained/good cops, or if they were just out of their jurisdiction (they were Rankin Borough cops in the Borough of Swissvale). Either way it was a perfect non-encounter.

The good ones aren't much fun to read about, but it's nice to know that things are getting better for us law-abiding citizens thanks to the efforts of all the OC'ers who came before me.

I'll happily read about a non-encounter over an encounter any day. I think it shows more acceptance to firearms and take it as a good sign.

The real question is how shitty the Wexford SGL was to shoot at. That's like 4 miles from my house. Traditionally chock full of loonies.
It has to start someplace... It has to start sometime...

[Grammer police] Three sentences. First sentence sets the location - Wexford SGL. Second sentence refers to your house and the SGL (but I have no idea what "like 4 miles" is - is it similar to but different from 4 miles?). Third sentence commenting on the loonies, the subject of the sentence is ambiguous - is your house full of loonies or the SGL?

    Here's what I think happened...

After waiting for 20 minutes just to have their order taken, they didn't have time to piss with you. They just wanted to eat and get back to whatever they were doing before they went into that slow-assed "fast food" joint.

I hate that location. I eat at the Taco Bell where the employees are courteous and the service is fast.

(I haz a lot of clients in that area)
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

...or fear of YouTube. Maybe we should start OC'ing our voice recorders for deterrence.

Stop posting and consult an attorney
You should have asked if you were being detained.
If you were CC, this wouldn't have been a problem.

Excellent. If they saw it, they had no reason to believe you were a threat, and more than no reason to believe you were just another law-abiding American citizen exercising your rights to keep and bear arms.
