Harrington & Richardson revolver
So I am hoping that someone here can help me gain some more knowledge about an H&R revolver. The story behind it is that my great great grandma bought it shortly after WWI and has not be fired since the 30's or 40's. My grandfather has the revolver now and we have been searching for a long time to find out some more info other then the basic stuff. I saw someone on here was a collector but cant remember the name. If ou guys can help me out I would appreciate it!
The revolver is a 22 with a seven shot cylinder and has a 4 1/2 inch barrel. The image I included is the same one but with a shorter barrel. I am trying to talk my grandpa through uploading an image to an email but no luck so far.

Re: Harrington & Richardson revolver
I believe that you're thinking of Jim Hauff, whose board name is: 32 Magnum
Good luck.

Re: Harrington & Richardson revolver
If you could post a serial number and/or a model number, that might be helpful, too.

Re: Harrington & Richardson revolver
There are a couple of 7 shot H&R .22 in the Blue Book of Gun Values, any other info stamped on the gun will be helpful in determining what exactly it is.
Could be a H&R Target Small Frame Top Break, aka Model 766, manf. 1925-1934. Ask Grampop exactly what is stamped on the gun.

General info about H&R can be found here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H_%26_R_Firearms
Also if you can send photos and any info you have to Mark@oldguns.net he has always been helpful to me. He is based in Utah, but always shows up at the antique firearms gun show in Baltimore.

gagones06,
Your Dad's gun sounds like a PREMIER - but we're going to need a couple more things to positively ID:
1. Stampings on the top of the barrel rib - exactly as printed.
2. The serial number will be found under the left grip panel, stamped into the cross strut.
3. Any markings on the left side of the barrel?
Here's pics of a 5" PREMIER and a 3" - notice the trigger mechanism - it's characteristic of the PREMIER.

Here's a pic of the PREMIER derived H&R TARGET MODEL (mentioned by Home Brewer).

Re: Harrington & Richardson revolver
CWRKR,
Gonna need a little bit more info to ID your AMERICAN DOUBLE ACTION.
1. Round or octagonal barrel?
2. Any stampings on the left side of the barrel - maybe manufacturer and address, or both of those and the cartridge stamp?
3. For value gonna need:
Overall condition in % of finish remaining
Barrel length
finish (Nickel plate or blued
caliber (5 shot .38S&W or 6 shot .32 H&R)
Serial numbers of pre 1905 ADAs were used several times (batch numbers) while 1905 and later there would be only one use of each s/n up to around 700,000.
Anybody that needs info on H&R firearms from any era (handguns, shotguns or rifles) can post right here and I'll answer your questions or if you wish to e-mail with questions or pics - send to: bobell01@aol.com (note that's ZERO ONE not OH ONE.)Jim Hauff H&R Collector In memory of my friends Bill Goforth and Jim Ritchie.
