Transporting Firearms
This question ought to raise some eyebrows from "lurking" Big Brother but, I'm going to ask it anyway. What issues do you run into when transporting a hand-gun in your "checked baggage" on an airplane? I am traveling to a state that has resiprosity with my state as far as carrying is concerned. From what I read in the airline policies, I can put an unloaded hand gun in my suitcase but, one concern I have is having it stolen by the "trustworthy" airline staff. Anybody have any experience with this?
I appreciate yur help

Re: Transporting Firearms
A friend of mine travels with firearms a great deal, he wrote this up to help others out.

Re: Transporting Firearms
I've done it a couple of times with no difficulty (give yourself a few extra minutes -- in Denver they escorted me on a long walk from the ticket counters to the TSA screeners). If there is one, go to the check-in line for special items like skis and golf clubs. Absolutely avoid (as a destination or even a connection) New York / New Jersey airports. Personally, I'd avoid Boston and Chicago as well, though I've never heard of anyone having a problem there.
