    Default General NFA Question

First thanks to Jaybell for taking the time to write those stickies. Very helpful and informative. Im wanting to begin the process of aquiring a suppressed SBR. Ive contacted the local CLEO and he will sign off on the forms after the do do a background check. My question is this: With my current job I have another 3-4 years on my commitment here afterwhich I plan on trying to take an overseas assignment. Would it be more beneficial to go ahead and setup the NFA Trust for this?

    Default Re: General NFA Question

From my reading of all the stickies, I would say "yes, it would be easier to have a trust". If you don't setup a trust, you are the only person allowed to possess the NFA item. If you setup a trust, you could have your wife, parent, sibling or anyone as a trustee that could hold on to the NFA item in your absence.

And it's really strict about not having other people possess the firearm in your absence. If you keep your NFA item in a safe, they can't even know the combination to the safe that the item is in.

I would think a trust would be the easiest way...
