What do you look for on a gun ticket?
Hello All,
As many of you are aware, my Wife and I established a non-profit organization a year ago after we lost our 2 year old son Huddy to childhood cancer. The organization is called Helping Hands from Hudson in honor of Huddy and as a spin off of a community effort called Helping Hands for Hudson our friends and colleagues launched to help when he was going through his battle.
Helping Hands from Hudson will be holding a gun raffle as one of our fund raising events to help kids and their families who are battling childhood cancer. We've done all the preps to get it going and just need a few tweaks on the prize list. So I've come to PAFOA for some advice.
What do you guys look for in a gun raffle ticket?
I want to have a quality ticket that people will want to donate for. All proceeds go into our organization and are given to the kids and their families, hospital programs, etc. If this is successful, we plan on doing one at least once a year.
So here are some of the guns that are top considerations for the prize list. Some are definite and some are up in the air right now:
Glock
Henry lever action rifle
Winchester or Marlin .30-.30 lever
Judge .45/410
Benelli Nova
Thompson in-line muzzleloader
Savage Axis bolt action
Springfield XD series
Remington 700 bolt action
Walther P22
Remington or Mossberg shotgun
CZ rifle or pistol
Ruger 10/22
Would like to have a 1911 listed
Considering a Ruger Vaquero
Considering a case of 1,000 rds of 9mm ammo
Considering a guided hunt prize
Considering a quality optic (i.e. scope, binoculars or eotech)
This is a work in progress. Everything is ready to go once the final list is confirmed. I just need some input to push me in the right direction. There is so much to choose from and I don't want to put just what I like on the ticket. The "considerations" are serious ones, so sway me one way or the other. Your opinions are important.
Any input is appreciated. Obviously we want a good ticket but need to be careful of how many real expensive guns we list since this is a fundraiser and the cause is of utmost importance. My goal is to offer a quality gun ticket and maximize funds raised.
Thanks for taking the time to read through my post and offer any input. Announcements are pending on the ticket sales and drawing if you are interested when they come out and we are also getting our website for the organization up and running. You will be able to learn more there once it is online.
Thanks again.......

I think you have a nice list of prizes there. I like the first two rifles listed the best. I think the 9mm ammo will draw a lot of people in as will the guided hunt.
Some people just plain suck.

Personally, I don't base my decision to buy a gun ticket on the guns offered. I buy to support the cause, and depending on the actual price, may actually buy several.
Of course, I have yet to win, but I'm pretty sure if I win a gun that I may not choose to keep, I'm sure I'll be able to sell it to put the money towards something else.Get your "Guns Save Lives" stickers today! PM for more info.

"Need not be present to win"
This will be a basic ticket purchase, drawing winning tickets on a specific date in a public and fully disclosed process, and winning ticket numbers announced in several venues; i.e. website, dealer's store, by ticket holder request and even on PAFOA if it is considered appropriate.
The drawing date will be in March and the event details are currently being finalized. We have a few options that we need to decide on and are waiting on some businesses and media offices to get back to us before we can do that.
Our dealer/FFL will be National Sporting Goods in Jersey Shore, PAAdapt, Adjust and Overcome.

Good points......and probably the mindset of most of use who are purchasers of gun raffle tickets. I would do the absolute same thing. Either way, the purchase ends up being positive.Adapt, Adjust and Overcome.
