    Default DuraCoat?

Has anyone used their system? seems like a great idea!

I wonder how it holds up, i know paint and plastic are tough to make stick, scuffing and removing all traces of oil can be tough!

I use gunkote ,duracoat and cerakote on a daily basis. Duracoat caters to the do it your self crowd with kits that are designed to allow you to refinish your firearm at home. preparation is key . All parts must be thoughly cleaned before the application of any coatings. you should blast all parts with aluminum oxide at least 120 grit or sand the parts . Duracoat can be directly applied over parkeized finishes that have been thoroughly degreased. If you have any question feeel free to contact at 610-252-5334 or email . Check out my website for additional information. Take care Brian / EFR

    Thumbs up Re: DuraCoat?

i used dura-kote to do a fn fal kit. this kit must have came straight out of a jungle somewhere, dirty as hell pitted and dinged up. after a good cleaning and some prep i did a mirage flage finish. turned out well and is holding up well. cleaning and prep is of utmost importance it sets the foundation for good results. this product is doable for reasonably skilled individuals. i suggest you invest in a good airbrush the cheap one from dura-kote is pretty much a pain. good luck remember nothing ventured = nothing gained. red dog

really considering one of the digital camo patterns, I think a media blaster might be in order to get the small spaces, Then using PPG DX-330 wax & grease remover. Brian can i order a kit from you or should i just to to their website?

Will update with the process and pics once i pick a color pattern and get it!

60in3 just go ahead and order it online I stock large bottles of colors not the kits, Also if you are spraying plastics or wood parts I wood recommend getting extra of all the colors, often older plastics and wood require more than 1 application of color. When I coat wood and plastics I apply several wet coats and let it cure. after it is dry I will check it over thoroughly ,if it needs more coating I sand all parts lightly and recoat. let it dry and then move on to the next color when doing camo or digital. Call me if you have any questions.

What about heat resistance? I really want to get my AK coated b/c the stock finish gets nasty when it heats up. It could be the moisture in the air but it looks like it's rusty. My guy who did the Aluma Hyde said it most likely wouldnt hold up. Thoughts with DuraCoat?

I pulled a post by: jarheadsairsmithing: ACU 1911. Great looking digital
camo on a 1911. Check it out. I remember him saying he parkerized the
    pistol first.
