    Default H and R 939 Revolver

My H and R revolver in 22lr(9 shot) is having an issue. When i pull the hammer back, the cylinder doesnt advance all the way to the next round. You have to move it with my hand to get the cylinder to line up with the barrel.I was wondering if anyone knew what was wrong with it and how to fix it.Thanks in Advance

It could be a worn or broken sear notch which any gunsmith could fix. Or most likely on this gun. The hammer spring plunger has a head made of white plastic and the front half breaks off and drops under the hammer, blocking it just short of the sear notch causing the problem you have. You can get a new all steel plunger from Numrich or Brownells, a gunsmith can install or if you are handy you can do it yourself. Remove the grips pull the hammer back and check if the white plastic head is broken.

could also be a timing issue. the pawl that advances the cylinder to the next chamber could be worn.

does the hammer go back all the way and lock? I had the same problem the first time my dad gave me my 939, there is a lock in the bottom of the frame of the gun, and if it is engaged slightly the hammer will not go back all the way and thus the cylinder will not rotate all the way

the hammer does come all the way back and lock. After the hammer is all the way back i have to rotate the cylinder a little bit for it to lock. After the cylinder locks,if i try to move the back end of the cylinder it seems a little wobly.

Well, i have absolutely no idea. How old is it? Is it something that has really been loved and well used? Or is it seldom shot?
