    Default Rust Problem

Ive been noticing some rust build up on the exterior of the barrels on some of my firearms but not others. It seems like the cheaper ones will get some rust while the more high end ones dont.I was wondering about the best way to clean and exterior of the barrels and the best was to prevent the rust in general?thanks

I would say to try Weapon Shield.

There are 2 things I know of to prevent or reduce the chances of rust forming while you're not looking.

1). Oil, even if it's only WD-40. A light coat wiped on with a soft rag works wonders.

2). VCI paper. (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor).

I keep VCI in my safe, every range bag, gun case, with my reloading equipment and in my toolbox (mechanic tools) to help prevent rust, corrosion and oxidization.
When you get a new set of reloading dies (most brands) there will be a small square of brown paper or a cardboard disk in the box. They are treated with VCI. It's typically good for 5 - 7 years of protection. Many firearms will have a piece of VCI paper in the box, don't throw it away.
Rebuilding an engine? Your new parts are probably wrapped in brown paper that will help protect against corrosion, that's VCI paper.

I see sheets of that stuff getting thrown away almost every day. I'm rust free with little to no effort for 20+ years and counting.

I don't have a short temper, I just have a quick reaction to bullshit.

Another help in the prevention department is dry air. I keep a couple of these in my rifle safe and one in my handgun safe.

The one shown above is a small version I keep in my handgun safe, I have the larger size ones for the rifle case.
