I saw an OCer today.....

I am in Las Cruces NM for work. I got done a little early today so I figured I would swing by Barnet Harley Davidson to pick up some things. (my cousin and her husband collect dealer/city specific HD clothing) I was walking around the show room, picked up some t-shirts, a hoodie and a stuffed animal (for my daughter) and a younger guy (20 something) comes in with a Glock in a Serpa. He was with a 2 of his friends and they walked directly to a Buell XB12S in the showroom. I thought OCer + Buell enthusiast = someone I'd like to bullshit with.

I started to make my way towards them when a staff member approached them so I backed off and continued with my shopping. I came back around to the front of the store and noticed his holster was now empty. There were no staff members around so I approached them:

Me: Excuse me, did they tell you to take your pistol out to the car???
Him: [laughs] yeah...
Me: You're still going to spend money here???
Him: They were very nice about it... Their store their rules, you know
Me: Yes, and it's your money, your rules. You can respect their wishes but you don't have to give them your money.
Him: I really want this bike...
Me: I'm not gonna tell you what to do but, I'm not going to give them a nickel....
Him: What are you gonna do???
Me: I'm leaving and I'm going to tell them why....

I walked over to the woman who confronted the OCer:

Me: Are you in charge here?
Her: Yes, I'm the Sales Manager
Me: Did you just make that guy lock his gun in his car???
Her: [smiles] You're welcome
Me: I'm welcome??? I didn't come over here to thank you. I came over to tell you that you just lost a sale.
Her: He's still here...
Me: Not him, Me. I respect that you have a the right as a property owner to disallow guns on your property. I'm going to exercise my right to spend my money where I want. I choose to not shop in a place that doesn't support the US Constitution.

I put all $150.oo worth (that HD shit is expensive) on the nearest desk and walked out. The OCer and his buddies followed me into the parking lot:

Him: Dude, you didn't have to do that...
Me: No, I didn't. It is something that I feel strongly about.
Friend1: I've never seen anyone do that before... that was kinda crazy!!!!
Me: When I'm home, I don't spend money where my gun isn't welcome and I'm not about to start here.
Him: I guess I'm gonna have to shop around....

We talked a bit about bikes (Buells in particular), guns, OC and CC for about 15 minutes and parted ways. He (the OCer) isn't going to buy a bike from them.

I guess I'm gonna have to take a ride to Roswell HD to get the stuff for my cousin. It should be interesting to see all that alien stuff too.
