uploading an avatar
I need some help uploading a picture from my computer to use as an avatar. I've resized the image, but still can't get it to load. Any help would be appreciated. Here is the picture I'm trying to use.

Re: uploading an avatar
Assuming you're using a windows operating system ....
right click on your picture, click save as and navigate to your desktop and save it there for easy access.
go to your "User CP" the link is near the top on the left.
Again on the left side scroll down to "Edit Avatar"
In that window make sure "Use Custom Avatar" is checked. Then click "browse" and navigate to your desktop and click on the photo you saved. (Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller). )
Click "Open" and then "Save Changes" which will cause the page to refresh.
Your avatar should now appear on that page as well as your posts in the forums.

Re: uploading an avatar
I tried, when I click on the "save changes" button the page refreshes but the pic is not there and the file path is gone. I've tried over and over and will not load. I've even tried different file types.
eta: I've verified the file size, it is 80x53 and 16010 bytesLast edited by 60-15; October 15th, 2011 at 09:40 PM. Reason: add pic size

Re: uploading an avatar
I loaded the same picture as my profile pic, and under my user cp the picture shows up, but if you click on my user profile, no picture.

Re: uploading an avatar
Try refreshing your browser cache, sign out and back on to PAFOA.
On a side note, your screen name and profile do not match could be part of the problem. Your info on the thread here says you joined in Dec. 2010 yet if I click on your name I get this "- مصر 55 -" with a join date of April 2007. ????

Re: uploading an avatar
I asked about the difference in the profile information when I first joined. I was told the reason is:
" This is a known bug related to our SEO optimizing plugin that makes us have clean website URLs.
The only fix for it at the moment would require us to reconfigure all the URLs for member profiles unfortunately.
It's on my very long list of things to do but pretty far down on the list. "

Re: uploading an avatar
well, since it doesn't happen to EVERYONES profile, then its fixable another way.. perhaps with a NEW membership signup and name... I dunno.
mods cant change that stuff, I'll mention it to the admin."Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH

Re: uploading an avatar
You only have 25 posts, that's not a lot to lose. Unless there's something really special about the name you want to use I think the simplest solution would be to register a new account and forget about the original.
There's a lot of good here and a lot of aggravation in trying to correct a problem that may be bug related.
Cut your losses early and start over, you'll be glad you did.

Re: uploading an avatar
I think it's fixed, I'm seeing your profile pic now.
