Default Has anyone priced AMMO ?

Was in a gun shop the other day 1/19 and was totally surprised when the customer in front of me went to buy a box of 30-06 Winchester and the box ran $50.65 Holy Shit.

We were actually chatting about the ammo prices at wally-world in the ammo and reloading forum. Prices are definitely going sky-high, lately.

I've been stocking up on .22lr and looking at buying a couple rifles/pistols to go with my 10/22. It's the only way to go to the range and not feel guilty for sending so much $ down range.

I've been talking yo my grandfather (who does all my hunting loads for my .30-06) and I think I'll be picking up the dies for my .223/5.56 very soon.

Larry, It seems the price on all ammo (pistol/rifle) has been steadily rising since September 2007. Even the discount sellers on line are getting pricey.

BTW was that $50 for 500 rounds?

I went out for 12 ga and some .223 on Saturday and got "sticker shock" on even case lots. I reload for pistol and have had components on hand for quite some time. Even at the big box stores the ammo is higher than proposed, ammo was only to go up 5-8% but seems like it went up 20%.

    Best regards,

Stupid though I may be, I paid $12 for 50 .22 magnums today. And $20 for .44 specials (50). But $50 for a box of 30-06, it had better be gold plated!

premium hunting ammo has always been outrageously priced, and the reality is that any competent hunter doesn't need such stuff for deer. There are advantages in heavier game but generally the stuff is really overpriced...
