    Default FTF sale question

I have a buyer interested in a rifle of mine. He is a FFL/SOT from another state but wants to do a FTF deal. (He's currently in the area)

Since its a FFL/SOT is it ok to do so or must it still be shipped to his FFL/SOT premise?

It may or may not be relevant, but is he from a bordering state? Just update the original post if you'd like.

It is legal, however he should bring proof of his FFL status - like a copy of his firearms license that you can verify at the ATF site and a photo ID to verify that he is who he claims he is.

It's not relevant any more. The bordering state regulation was dropped a number of years ago.

Any person, who is not prohibited, can buy a long arm from any FFL in any state as long as they abide by the laws of the state in which they are buying the gun AND the laws of their state of residence. In fact, any non prohibited person can buy a handgun from any FFL in any state, again insuring they meet the laws of both states, BUT the handgun has to be shipped to a FFL in the buyers home state to have the transfer completed.

    .
It's perfectly legal for YOU to sell a gun to an FFL holder anywhere ,whether it's in person or shipped directly to them.

However I'm not sure if the FFL needs to do anything different when he does business in a state where he does not reside.

Thanks for the responses. He wasn't able to meet up while he was in the area so its just being shipped to the FFL address. Good to know though that I can it this situation were to ever come up again
