Well, it was released in 1971, 37 years ago, I guess you could call it history by it's age, hell cars I used to call "classic", grew up with, have "historic" tags on 'em now.

    Eastwood is da Man! lol

That movie made a big mark in popular culture at the time. The History Channel leans heavily on the pro-gun side of media - so if they wanna play a movie or two instead of some ejamacational stuff, its alright by me.

BTW, listening to it in the background as I type this. My TV doesn't migrate much from THC.

Sadly, the History Channel has been bitten by the Ratings bug - look at "Shockwave" or whatever it is called - their own reality video series where they show video clips of car accidents and shootouts between cops and hoodies and people getting blown up....which has NO PLACE on a channel about history.

They are trying to capitalize on Clint's name and style - and they gloss it over by making it a "Popular Movie, Popular Era, Popular Culture" presentation.

They were also talking about the 44mag and its impact on American History. How it was used and portrayed in movies

Yeah I have actually seen Dirty Harry a few times on the history channel. They usually talk history during the commercial breaks.
