For home built guns, what are the BATF requirements?
As long as you aren't building an NFA or AOW item, and it is going to be for personal use (no selling), there is no requirement...build away. I have seen quite a few "home made" firearms, some that were downright ugly, but worked...some that were absolute works of art.

I have seen guys starting with nothing but a barrel, and then build a receiver for it. One in particular was about 10 years ago with a .50 cal M-2 barrel that wound up looking a lot like the single shot .50 rifle that Serbu offers.

That being said though, your design does appear to have some safety issues. First off, not knowing what caliber that is, but I am assuming a centerfire rifle cartridge of some sort.

I don't see a "bolt", or even access to the chamber, I am assuming the "tit" sticking out the end of the "chamber" is for the firing pin to be struck by the external hammer.

I would really like to see a close up of how the action locks up to the chamber and the locking lugs if there are any. I am also curious as to what steel you used for construction, most common are the 4000 series, 4140 being a very common steel used in receiver construction.

Remember that the average rifle cartridge is generating 50,000 psi....you need a strong action and bolt lockup to keep from having a hole punched in your head.

Another issue I see is how the barrel and chamber are mounted to the "stock---pipe". Not being in line with the rest of the rifle mounted the way it is, the mount is going to be under pretty high shear stresses from recoil, I could see the barrel eventually flying off.

Please post some more pictures and details if you can.

Unless your at least a Class B Machinist or a certified gunsmith I would leave gun building to the companies that do all the measuring and engineering for you. I mean things can go very very wrong, very very fast!
