    Default Got a woodchuck!

just got my second woodchuck kill this year (2 in 2 weeks) this morning in the pouring rain. 50 yard headshot with a .22LR CCI Velocitor.

cleaned and skinned it and am soaking the body over night before boiling it up tomorrow. mmmmmmm, can't wait for my first taste!

Nice! Will be going out next week or the week after for some 'chuks. I have never eaten one, or even considered it before, tell me how it tastes.

I am curious as to what woodchuck tastes like. I have been intrigued lately by small game and have been looking at some books about field dressing it and preparing it. Will be following to see how it turns out.

Grundies have a taste all to their own in my opinion, darker colored meat but surprisingly mild. The young ones tend to be milder than the older ones, and better to look at while cleaning them. I had them a few times slow cooked in tomato sauce w/ peppers and onions. We always soaked them in salt water overnight.

im not even sure what a woodchuck is, but since you got one, how much wood do they chuck? Is it anything like the GEICO commercial? And if so, I can see how its easy to shoot them. They just sit on the bank chucking your wood whilst you yell at them. Chow down. I dont personally like much small game. I hope it turns out to your liking

Actually it would be funny as hell to see that hanging in your buddies den when you walked in.

A groundhog head, maybe a full body possum in a menacing pose, chipmunk snarling nearby!

    Ok, sorry back on topic.
