I have been carrying Federal HydraShoks in 9mm, .38 +P., .357 Mag and .45 ACP for years. At one time they were the hottest thing going and I just kept with them. Luckily I have never had to performance test any of them.

What ammo are you guys carrying around these days??

Personally, I carry PDX1 in 380acp for my Bersa Thunder plus. It performed well in ballistic tests I found online so i decided to go with it. It shot well at the range so I can't complain.

This is what i use, in each caliber i own:

Ruger LCP: Buffalo Barnes .380+P 80gr Solid Copper Hollow Point at 1130fps. (matches the energy of a J frame firing .38 special +P)
Spare mag: Buffalo Bore .380+P 100gr Hard Cast lead Flat Nose at 1000fps (30" penetration in calibrated ballistics gel)

HK P7: Corbon 9mm+P 100gr Powrball at 1475fps (very high energy, explosive expansion- my P7 is very accurate with this load)

Sig P228: Corbon 9mm+P DPX 115gr Barnes SCHP at 1250fps (barrier blind carry load recommended by both opposing stopping power camps)

Trail defense 9mm: Buffalo Bore 115gr+P+ Montana Gold match HP at 1400fps (Penetrated a Level IIA Kevlar panel in my own tests)

FN Five SeveN: Elite S4M 28gr moly coated OTM at 2600fps (400+ ft lbs of tumbling and fragmenting fun for use on Zombies!!!!)

These are Normas' original loading for the 10mm and these are the only ammunition I carry in my 10's. Several years ago I able to 3 cases {that was all he had} of this ammunition from an FFL that was going out business at a bargain basement price.

For target practice I use Hornady, Remington, Double Tap, or my own home loads which are even hotter than the above Noma loadings.

Hornady Critical Defense in my .357mag and Remington Golden Sabres in my 9mm. Before that it was Speer Gold-Dots in my 9mm.

I carry Hornady Critical Defense in my RIA 1911 Officer and SIG 1911, Doubletap 147 Gr JHP in my Glock 31, and Winchester Supreme Elite in my G22. I'll admit I haven't done as much research as I should, but they all seem like pretty solid rounds.

I've been carrying Hornady Critical Defense in my .38 revolver. But I'm going to switch to Buffalo Bore soon. (Not the +P). Reason is, recently, I was shooting some of the CD stuff, and I had 3 FTFs! That's ridiculous out of a revolver, for a load that I bought specifically as carry ammo! I will never buy CD again!

Were the primers struck properly? Just want to rule out the revolver...
