Default Hackabee gives up presidential run!!

    http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Huckab...Gods_0115.html

I can't see him recovering from this one...

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!”
    ~Samuel Adams

WOW. Just WOW. I always knew Huckabee was the typical Religious Right candidate, but to suggest that we change the Constitution to be in line with "God's standards" flies in the face of the seperation of Church and State.

With that statement, Huckabee officially embodies the quote:
"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross." - Sinclair Lewis
"Political Correctness is just tyranny with manners"
    -Charlton Heston

"[The Constitution preserves] the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation...(where) the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms."
-James Madison, Federalist Papers, No. 46.

"America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy." [sic]
    -John Quincy Adams

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies."
    -Thomas Jefferson

I guess I'm the only one that sees this as a plus for him. I think he caters to the church crowd.

What I want to know is why is it better to have a christian state than an islamic state?

I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly, but the answer is that both are equally bad.

Church and State should NEVER go hand in hand.

I'm sorry. We (America) harp because many of the islamic countries follow islamic law, or they want to. for example dressing the women up in bed sheets. We think this is horrible.

So why would it be more acceptable to have our president attempt the same thing here?

I was attempting to show the difference in how we view what we do vs how we view others.

First Amendment to the United States Constitution:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free execise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Which parts of this amendment have NOT been violated in the past 220 years?

I'm not going to attempt to get into Huckabee's head, but I do find it hard to believe that his words came out of his pie hole as he intended. He has a reputation for putting his foot in his mouth. That said they're his words, and he has to live with them.
