Question CA to PA Pistol Transfer - Ownership Question

A buddy of mine lives in NYC. He is from California, where his family still lives. His dad (in Cali) has offered to send him a pistol that he can use when he goes with me (PA resident) to the range here in PA.

Being a resident of NYC, he isn't going to be able to own the gun any time soon.

Is it possible for his dad to send the pistol from CA to PA via FFL without changing ownership of it, and I can just store it here for him?

Or is there a better way my buddy can have one of his grandfather's guns at my place here so he can enjoy it at the range when he's in town?

    Any info would be appreciated.

Your buddy from NYC cannot take possession of the pistol in PA he would need to take possession in NY. The only thing that would work is for his dad to transfer the gun to you. You can agree to hold it until he can take possession of it in NY or he moves to PA.

Nope can't do it without a change of ownership. anything like you speak of would be a transfer in the eyes of the BATFE.
