I have the exact same model, blued, in 327 Fed and it's the only Henry I own. This model is heavily based on the Marlin lever action which was a selling point, and Marlin didn't make a 327. They did make an 1894 in 32 H&R Magnum, and people have rechambered those in 327 but the 32 H&R Marlins are much too pricey due to collector interest.

I had to work on my Henry 327 because it was not smooth feeding; the extractor was ground to a sharp point and did not catch on the case rim in a positive manner. I sent it back to Henry and although they were very nice about it and very fast with the turnaround, it still had the same problems. Easy to be fast if you don't do anything . . . not saying they did that.

I got a couple replacement extractors and modified one suitably to provide 100% extraction. Chamfering and polishing the chamber mouth and feed ramp took care of feeding.

Anyhow, YM will probably V, because mine was an early gun and I know a shooter with a fairly recent 327 gold Henry and it's a solid performer. I can't abide the gold ones, but they fit your pimptastic requirements.

Seems to be an issue with Henry Big Boy rifles, in general. My .357 BB had extraction issues. I tried to use it for SASS and cases would just sort of fall out of the chamber when they were ejected. Being left handed, if I had the gun tilted to the left in any way, the case would fall back into the gun causing a jam. If you watch YouTube videos of someone shooting a Big Boy, you can see the cases don't come out with much gusto as compared to a Marlin.

The extractor broke on my first BB. Henry sent me a new one and I installed it. I took it out to another match and that extractor broke. Henry had me send them the rifle in for service. They had it for a month (this was just after their NJ factory flooded). Finally they sent me a whole new rifle. It's still in the box and hasn't been shot. While I was waiting to get my BB back I bought a Rossi 92, and after some minor smithin', it works great. I like the BB, I just don't think it's up for competition use. Not that they ever claimed it to be.

[QUOTE=Zet70;4569141]Grandpa's old 1903 from 1926. Mom just gave it to me for my 35th birthday. Ordered a new recoil spring, mag, and shoulder holster to carry real classy style.

Beautiful!! Keep it in the family. Hand it down some day.

Taking a vacation + sitting here watching an old war movie, bridge at Remagen + cruising gb = dangerous! Found a new Henry Axe for lowest price in a while. Several hundred below sold auctions. Still too high, but lever's are crazy price nowadays! But I've wanted one.

I've got a 44 Mag combo, a Winchester 94 and S&W 629. But my 45 Colt Vaquero is an orphan. Dammit, now I need another lever gun!

Thanks guys. I got a chance to shoot it today. I was just plinking at some cans. Until i got cold. Im happy with it. It was 680.00 OTD. I tried to get the 357 he had too. I offered 1300 for the pair. He countered offered 1350. But i only had a grand in cash and 300.00 on my back card.

    Ajr,

    That is one shamokin rifle.

You gonna go old school and maybe cast your own?

The guy would not float you a day or whatever for the other $50. Or hold it. There's gratitude for the sale. (I'm just sayin, not meant to be mean spirited to the guy.)

    Nice, enjoy!
