I ordered this back in August. Finally showed up.

Nice! I have a Shield too (.9mm) for carry, but my full size (.9mm) is among the best SHTF pistols around...

... thousands of rounds through it and she went bang EVERY time.

Probably not the best competition pistol though, even with my Apex trigger.

Picked this up from Alderfer's today. A salty looking Type-53 carbine made in 1960 at Factory 296. No cleaning rod and the bore will need a lot of scrubbing. But the numbers all match and there are no import marks.

Cleaning rods are relatively cheap on ebay. Also that is a very interesting sling arrangement.

I originally thought one of the previous owners had installed the Finn sling hangars on it when the dog collars on the sling rotted off. But I can't find any ChiCom sling that looks like the one in the photo, so I pulled them off.

I'd leave it on. IIRC these rifle were sold to a country other than China before they were imported, who knows what the did with them.

Problem is this thing has no import marks, so it didn't come in with that big batch from Albania a few years back.

Oddly enough, I didn't notice it when I picked up the rifle from the auction house but there is a tag taped on the buttplate that reads
CHINA - MOISON NAGANT
53 7.62-54
BATTLE PICKUP

Doesn't mean its a bringback without the papers, but the condition of the metal on the buttplate and under the wood line does make it seem like it did spend some time in a humid environment. Regardless, its still all numbers matching and the action is quite smooth. Close to the level of being a Mauser smooth since the parts were never mixed around during a refurb.
