Re: What did you buy yourself today (Photo thread)...
You'll be happy with it. I have an APX compact. Lack of traction for the APX in my mind was just a pure timing thing. The APX was introduced late in the game for the MHS RFP from the Army......Beretta originally tried to submit an upgraded M9 for the RFP, which resulted in the M9A3. While the M9A3 is great (in my mind at least) by the time the RFP was refined, it made the M9A3 a costly gun as well as difficult to wedge it into some of the specs that seem to have been written squarely to get the choice down to Sig or Glock. Beretta, late in the game, submitted the APX as their striker fired, polymer (light weight, adjustable grips, etc) for consideration, but I believe they could see the writing on the wall. Army got entries down to four for final consideration, but it was a pretty crowded field with not a lot of separation (except cost per unit that I never saw until after they picked the Sig). The final choice from what I read was between the FN509; the Glock 19x, the Beretta APX and the Sig M17 (military version specs of the P320).
Collateral benefits to the consumer market, all are really fine pistols, I have each of them, plus an M9A3, and truthfully the Sig is my least favorite of the bunch. I do like the M17 trigger, I believe it is the same trigger (with a curved face) as is in the X5 series, but aside from that, the Sig is nothing special. I upgraded my FN509 to a 509 Tactical (TB, NS, Suppressor height sights; 20-round mags) and I had my 509 listed on this site for sale but got not one single bite of interest.

picked up this new s&w 44 and it pairs nicely with my 357. I'll be shooting it tomorrow night.

I thought for sure that I was done with revolvers. I found however, that I can't stray too far from my roots...this represents purchases from the last 35 days.
