Re: Disappearing Car Doors!
Doubtful this car door design will get traction any time soon. It looks like it requires electricity to operate, and has obvious safety issues in the event of power failure or other incident resulting in an emergency exit.
Conceptually I really like it, but it can't be retro fitted to existing cars. If newer cars were offered with this, and had a manual override I think I'd opt for it.Gloria: "65 percent of the people murdered in the last 10 years were killed by hand guns"

Re: Disappearing Car Doors!
BMW made a car with this concept several years ago, but it never came to the states because the NHTSA and DOT wouldn't certify it as safe. The car was called the z-1, that is the reason that we have the Z-3 series here. It was a beautiful car, and I had one. Got alot of women because of it.

Re: Disappearing Car Doors!
A guy we did some work for a while back has a Z-1 in his garage. He has is tagged, and drives it occasionally. He owns a dealership, and paid big bucks to have this car and be able to drive it. Money talks, I guess. He also has a BMW that looks alot like a Ferrari.
