    Default CZ SP-01 shadow custom.....opinions\comments

I'm doing some research into a competition pistol for USPSA. Bob at classic pistol has been kind enough to actually order one of these in to let me look at it. BTW, very nice guy.
These are supposed to high quality pistols and are run through the CZ custom shop.

Any comments and opinions are welcome, whether you have this particular model or some other model. Trying to get a feel for CZ as a whole.. They certainly aren't one of the biggest selling companies here, but I hear good things.
This isn't a $300 handgun, so I'd be interested in hearing from owners of CZ.

    Thanks, SG
I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning.[

Install a CZ competition hammer and respring her and go shooting.

They dominate the European market so to say they aren't popular is incorrect.

Otherwise, she should eat everything and shoot like a dream in Production division.

CZ's are awesome, they do next to zero marketing in the US though, I guess they let their products speak for themselves. The Czechs have a long history of producing high quality firearms, but 40 years behind the Iron Curtain has left them virtually unknown in the US. As a quirk of history, the Ceska Zbrojovka never patented the CZ-75 (the communist goverment didn't believe in private property, physical or intellectual) therefore the CZ-75 has become one of the most widely copied pistol designs in the world, probably second only to the M1911. You'd be hard pressed to buy a better gun for the money.

I personally own three pistols from the CZ custom shop, the 75 SA Target with the flat trigger, the SPO& which is a PO7 duty upper on a shortened shadow lower, and The custom carry PRO-TEK 9mm which is a pcr with alloy frame and alot of custom shop add ons. All have buttery smooth triggers, point and shoot dead on accuracy. You will love the shadow, I just ordered 2 of the cz75 SPO1 tactical decockers for two of my customers.I am sure you will love this pistol.

I have a few CZ's and will have more. Went shooting with a friend that had never shot a CZ. He just stood at the bench, looking at the target, holding my CZ-75. He turned and looked at me and said "this is the first gun I've ever held that just felt right". He now has one on his wish list. I've got a CZ Redhead in .410 that I've shot 25/25 with. Yes, CZ makes good guns.

    Sauer,

I have a highly modified CZ-85B if you'd like to shoot it one time.

I have the following done to the gun:
    competition hammer
    13lb main spring
    11lb recoil spring
    red fiber front sight
    competition rear sight
    polished feed ramp
stainless magazine break (allows the magazines to drop freely)
    Peace, Prosperity, and Liberty
