Default Changing barrel length on form-1 SBR

I have a form-1 SBR that was built, and paperwork submitted, with a 10.5" barrel. I recently purchased a 12" barrel for it and I was wondering:

Do I need to submit a paperwork change for the OAL if this is my only AR and if I keep the 10.5" barrel? My assumption is no.

Does the answer to the previous question change if I sell the 10.5" barrel? My assumption is yes unless going longer than the original paperwork is OK.

    Are these correct assumptions?

Also, what is the procedure for that paperwork to change the OAL?

    Thanks for your help.

AFAIK the ATF doesn't care if you change the barrel length. But if it's going to be a permanent change, I would notify them and get an updated copy of your form 1 with the correct barrel length, just in case you have any encounters with LEO.

It's my understanding that you form 1 the lower. As long as your lower is sbr taxed you can swap any upper you want to afaik.

If it is a permanent change you should notify the BATF.
You should send 2 copies of a letter stating the change, asking them to update the registry. In the letter tell them to mark your copy of the letter as recieved by them, and return it to you.
They will not "update" your Form1.
The copy they return to you is your "update".
