Remind the candidates about the pro-2A vote!
Now we're into primary season, the Dems might be concentrating on their base and forgetting about the pro-2A voters. It's time to remind them that we're still on the look-out for our rights! Also, certain Republicans seem to think that they can just pay lip service to the Second Amendment and get away with it unnoticed. We can't let that happen either!

Sample statement for Obama:
Dear Senator Barack Obama,
I welcome the change that you would bring to Washington, shining much-needed sunlight on the corrupt "politics as usual". However, I'm concerned about how you interpret the Second Amendment. A careful analysis leaves no doubt that, at the very least, it protects the right of private citizens to keep and bear those arms that are suitable for use in collective self-defense against "the depredations of a tyrannical government". Now, I don't expect President Bush to respond to a terrorist attack by declaring martial law and usurping dictatorial powers. But even if the threat of tyranny is irrelevant to modern American society, the Second Amendment still guarantees the right to own military rifles (including so-called "assault weapons"). Claiming that modern society or the 'War on Terror' renders our Constitutional rights obsolete is simply dishonest; only an amendment enacted pursuant to Article V can alter Constitutional protections of our rights.
I hope you come to recognize that a ban on so-called "assault weapons" is unconstitutional regardless of whether banning them would be good policy.
Sincerely,
[FirstName] [LastName]
I'm deeply concerned that you have supported a ban on so-called "assault weapons". The 2nd Amendment protects, at the very least, the right of private citizens to keep & bear those arms that are suitable for use in collective self-defense against "the depredations of a tyrannical government". This includes military rifles such as so-called "assault weapons". Perhaps no longer relevant in 21st-century America, but unless the Constitution is amended, this is still THE LAW.

Candidates' statements on their websites:
Edwards: In small towns across America, hunting and gun ownership is a way of life. John Edwards believes that law-abiding citizens have the right to defend their families and respects the long American tradition of hunting.... He will also crack down on gun crimes.
Giuliani: Rudy Giuliani is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. He understands that every law-abiding American has an individual right to keep and bear arms that is guaranteed by the Constitution. ... Rudy Giuliani will make sure that if someone commits a crime with a gun, they will go to prison for the mandatory sentence.
Romney: Governor Romney does not believe we need any more gun laws in this country. Like President Bush, he would sign a gun law if it was carefully written to target weapons of unusual and unnecessary lethality or power. (ed: What?! He doesn't believe we need any more gun laws, but he'll sign a new law anyway if it targets certain weapons?) ... As President he would ... protect the right of every law abiding adult to keep and use firearms.
