Exactly my point...I have testified in both types...yes you can and no you can't. One by one...no you can't is starting to be the rule.

    Interesting.

My general feeling is that if a cop is allowed to carry in the court room then I should be allowed the same; if I can not carry in the court house then why should the police?

Because police are trusted figures of authority, and you're just a pee-on.

How about a cop who is off duty and not there in the performance of his duties? Is he still allowed to carry?

Based on my reading I would say no. But IANAL.
I am not a lawyer and nothing I say should be construed as legal advice.

Same argument could be used for schools, but I think streaker summed it up, for the why.

because the local MDJ courts are instruments of raising revenue and their agents are allowed to protect that. Think about it- if you had a racket like they do wouldn't you allow your bodyguards to protect that?

Do you know another job that you can get without a law degree by persuading voters that you are the right person, and only have to get re-elected once before you can retire with a full pension and state benefits? The state pays its collection agents well.

Him: What? Are you kidding me? I'm a cop, I can carry wherever the hell I want!

So, was that legal for him to carry in there? Seems crazy to me.
And the nearby angels all bowed down and worshiped him while all the others sang praises on high.

I always forget that they are the only ones qualified enough to carry a gun

I agree. I do behavioral therapy in schools and obviously can not carry there. I am always amazed that I can carry damn near anywhere else but apparently the mere act of walking into a school building will turn me into a cold blooded killer...or cause the gun to jump out of the holster and kill the kids on the school yard.

Well hell I am in the wrong profession. Only re-elected once for a full pension and retirement? My parents lied to me, they said I need to work hard for my whole life for things I want and so I can retire comfortable; apparently not.
