    Default Open carry in church

I don't post a whole lot anymore about my OC experiences. There is very little new, noteworthy, or negative, so I don't bother. Today I had a very pleasant experience, and was a little surprised to boot.

I carry in church, and have for a long time. I am almost always concealed, unless it is a function other than the main services. Today we had a special day. It was our semi annual business meeting, and instead of meeting at the church building itself, we met at the home of one of the member families. The plan for the day was for the morning service, a picnic lunch, the business meeting, and then trap shooting followed by rifle and target shooting on the property. The printed announcement handed out in church encouraged people to bring their guns and ammo for the trap shoot.

So this morning, we rolled in with the truck stuffed with Bibles, food, and guns. As we pulled up to the house, the hostess came out to greet us. I asked her where I should park, and she gave me my directions. Then she said, "I want you to know that this is an open carry service here today." I got a big smile on my face, and said, "Yes ma'am!", or something to that effect.

Right after getting all our stuff squared away, I met up with a fellow member here who posts as Lexington. This was his first time meeting with our group, and so I informed him of the uniform of the day. At first he thought I was pulling his leg, but I said, "Ask her", pointing to our hostess. With her confirmation, he was off like a shot to retrieve his gun. to make a long story shorter, we ended up with six people open carrying. We expended many rounds of shotgun ammo, killed many clay pigeons, and then for the grand finale, loosed of hundreds of rounds of .22 LR, much of it suppressed. We had people from ages 6 to 60 shooting, all having fun.

I won't bore folks with the business part of the church, nor do I want the resident atheists getting their shorts in a knot about all this Jesus stuff. Suffice to say, the whole day was a fantastic experience with good food, good fellowship, and good theology all rolled into one. No one had a problem, although we did get some good natured teasing from some of our more pacifist brethren. And you can't beat OC in church, at least as far as I am concerned.

I see PennsyPlinker is one of those people that believe in the Easter bunny and Santa Clause. Come on PennsyPlinker any smart well educated person with a brain cell in their head knows atheists don't really exist.

I think TECHNICALLY, it was holstered. The Bible might've been 'clung.'

Please say that there was at least one "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition" said during the event.

I think I need to go to this church. I CC in church (when I go, since I really dislike my church) and I believe they would probably frown upon that as well.
