Default From 1911 to XD back to 1911

So my very first pistol was a Kimber TLE/RL 5" 1911. I carried it for a while, and then got a Kimber Eclipse Pro 4". For some reason it was less comfortable to carry, and I sold it and got an XD45 compact. I carried that for a while, and its just not comfortable carrying spare magazines for it... its somewhat bulky compared to the 1911 too.
so now I've come back to the 5" 1911. Its just very comfortable, even though its not exactly small. Anyone else have a similar experience?
I plan on getting a Glock 36 and Dan Wesson CCO someday to try out too.

I'm 5' 9" & don't have a problem carrying a GI series 1911. It does make a "lump" in my T at the 5:00 but very, very few people are observant enough to pick it up.

I carry the same XD and in a good custom leather holster the gun disappears and is extremely comfortable. My only complaint is I have no-ass syndrome and it often works my pants down some even with a good belt.

I have often wondered if a 1911 would be more comfortable because it is narrower but if it is heavier it would increase my pants sagging problem.

Some day I will try one but it is a costly trial to buy one and end up not liking it as most 1911s I have seen are near $1,000.

I carried a 1911 then switched to a Glock 23. Stayed with the 23 for years until I moved here and had to switch to the 229 for work. Moving from the PRNJ to PA at least opened up my ability to carry on a personal "permit" (yes, I realize it's a LTCF here not a permit) and I've rotated through several pistols in the past six years. 229, Glock 23 / 19 / 22 / 36, HK P7M8 and P7, Kimber UCII HK45c, 239 and now am generally back to a 1911. Either the UCII Tactical or a Series 1 Kimber is generally what I carry now. Sometimes I'll grab the 239 but it depends.

Looking back I pissed away quite a bit of money when I could have just stuck with 1911, for the most part, to begin with...

You can get a RIA Tactical for around $450-480, and they're great guns with a few little extras over a regular GI series 1911... But for a couple bells and quite a few whistles, the Taurus PT1911 is a great gun...

We should start a "carry another members gun for a week" club.

NEVER BUY A TAURUS 1911: they are awful quality, and for the same price you can find a nice Springfield.

I actually think this is a great idea! Perhaps not quite that much, but at least a "shoot other guns" event. We need an Eastern PAFOA shoot
