Re: Has anyone seen this Glock malfunction?
i have heard of the early models failing with that part, and have had my models front sight disappear, (old pin in style), had a replacement sent out free of charge only to have it happen again a few days later, switched to trijicon sight with the screw in front and never has a problem since.

Re: Has anyone seen this Glock malfunction?
Have never witnessed either. I have never heard of a slide lockactually breaking. As far as the front sight goes, hmm...shit happens.

Well gee, old adage goes something like. "if it can go wrong it will and usually at the worst time".
Any small part is subject to breakage. Inspect frequently and carefully!

Re: Has anyone seen this Glock malfunction?
Ive seen all kinds of sight failures. From drifing rears, to Triium tubes dying, breaking, falling out, FO rods getting kicked out, whole sights disapeer during a COF, or even once had one I had loctite in fall out while holstered.
The self-disasembly though... thats a new one on me. I do know I had heard of (iirc) some 4th gen guns have the takedown activate with a WML, I think there was a youtube video out with a guy demoing it.

Re: Has anyone seen this Glock malfunction?
Saw it once on the range to a buddy. The spring which holds that lever in place broke, the lever slid out, then the gun doubled on him...twice. The slide went too far forward, and that somehow allowed the striker to move past the trigger bar or something.
We found the lever on the floor, installed a new spring for him, and the gun was back to normal again.
Never saw the lever break though. Seen plenty of sights fall off though (seen it on most manufacturers guns - particularly S&W sigmas, Sig's in recent years, and the Remington R1's).

Re: Has anyone seen this Glock malfunction?
I had my front sight fall off my G17. Replaced it with the screw in metal version with a little loctite and never had a problem again. ALL GUNS MALFUNCTION. Anyone that tells you different is a fool.

Re: Has anyone seen this Glock malfunction?
I have around 10k + with my father through my g17 and never had that problem. The only problem I had was when I put my sights on I never put loctite on and it came loose after a few thousand shots. Never had any spring problems or slide problems though.
