    Default Question for 1911 Enthusiasts

I'm looking to buy a 1911 soon. Is there any makes to stay away from? I'm looking in the $700 range, and found plenty nice looking guns on gunbroker, but I'm not sure what make to get. Suggestions?

Springfield Armory either the PX9109LP or the PI9128LP.
The new Ruger 1911 looks pretty nice too.
All should be in about your price range.

I don't think anyone at the moment is building a terrible 1911. If you want the most for the money and a complete package at the same time, look at the PT 1911. Comes in .45, 9mm, 38 Super.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

I bought Remington 1911R1 about 3 months ago. Great gun, very happy with it. Just a shade over $600.

    Just my experience.
STI Spartan. Only complaint I have is the finish isn't very durable. No FTF, no FTE no matter what I feed it.
I also have a Para GI Expert SS. It jams no matter what I feed it.
My buddy has a Springfield loaded model. I can't talk him into trading the Para for it.

I saw on of the Ruger 1911's a few weeks ago. The price was about 600.00. I think one will be finding its way to my house.

Picked up a Springfield loaded stainless unfired for $650 a couple months ago. Excellent 1911. My friend bought a new Remington and is very happy with it. Take your time, look around . There was a used Sig TTT on Gunbroker for $700. If I would not have just bought a PMR- 30 That Sig would be mine.

If you're starting out with 1911's you might look at the Rock Island Armory full size tactical model. You're talking at or less than $500 and comes with a lot of goodies (windage adjustable Novak rear sight, dovetail FS, combat hammer, beavertail grip safety, ambi thumb safety). Then if you want you can accessorize it very easily.

I have 2 RIA's and neither has ever given me any problems, no FTF's or FTE's. They are very good bang for the buck and with their cost it leaves you money for ammo, holster, new grips (if you want), etc.
