No charges against clerk who shot robber in Ingram
    Monday, January 07, 2008
    By Milan Simonich, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The 7-Eleven clerk in Ingram who shot and wounded a knife-carrying robber will not be charged with a crime, prosecutors said today.

A review of the case determined that Kaelin Weber, 24, was justified in shooting the robber, Mike Manko, a spokesman for the Allegheny County district attorney, said in a statement.

The robbery suspect, Lawrence V. Davis, 20, of Norristown in Montgomery County, now faces an additional charge of attempted homicide, Mr. Manko said. Allegheny County police already had charged him with robbery and aggravated assault.

Police said Mr. Davis, wearing a mask and carrying a knife, entered the 7-Eleven store in Ingram about 4:30 Christmas morning. Investigators said he leaped over the counter and inflicted cuts on Mr. Weber's right hand and elbow.

Mr. Weber fired several shots at Mr. Davis, causing a number of wounds to his body. Police said none of the injuries was life-threatening.

Mr. Weber continues to work at the store.

Is this the guy that chased him out the door and shot?

Glad to see he didn't get charged.

Yeah, the original story said the clerk chased the guy outside and shot him again...after shooting him inside. Whether that's how it went down or not for sure, I haven't heard.

I may have to visit that store sometime and drop off a box of ammo.

    Wonderful news!!

Appears 7-11 hasn't fired him yet, hopefully that'll stay the same.

Definitely. I was really worried about his job.

I am very surprised though. I must say that chasing a guy out of the store (supposedly) didn't bode well for self-defense. I am glad that the DA can see that when someone's life is threatened, there's no telling what they will do. The anti's would like to think they'd be very calm, cool and collected in the heat of the moment IF they were ever robbed, threatened or otherwise but the fact of the matter is you never know until it happens. I could very well go into shock, black-out and take my pants off. I have no idea. I hope never to find out, either.

Now why did you have to do that. That's not a mental picture I needed just before dinner.

I'm going to my happy place.

It's refreshing to see the system still works correctly from time to time.

You're very welcome. It turned out exactly the way we all hope a self-defense shooting WOULD turn out for us. No charges on the guy defending himself and he keeps his job too. Although, I now wonder if the SCUMBAG BG will sue the clerk?
    Ridiculous but possible??
