Default Colt series 70 1911 sights

With my eyes getting older I need to upgrade the sights on my colt 1911.What are my options, what have some of you guys put on yours.I do not need night sights but need something easier to pick up than the black post.My buddy put a set of green Truglo on his Sig and I really like them but they do not make any for colt 1911 yet.

How about three dot sights? My Colt XSE came with them standard and I really like them. No glow like you would get from a fiber optic or a night sight, but they're a lot better than a post.

Are the series 70 Colt sights different from the sights a Kimber uses?

Because Truglo makes them for a Kimber.

I have them on a Glock and I really like them.

Front sights on a series 70 are staked not dovetailed so you a bit limited. But you could have a gunsmith dovetail the front slide to accept modern style sights.

I personally don't like 3-dots. Have you considered painting the front blade pink or orange?

HiViz makes stake on front sights.

Here is one place that has a lot of sights for 1911's: http://www.fusionfirearms.com/

You can also go to Brownells and look at all the different sight manufacturers for something that you like.

XS Sight Systems also makes different sights for the 1911, including, IIRC, a ghost ring sight system.

Also, midwayUSA, Natchez Shooters Supply and MidSouth Shooters Supply are other places to get 1911 sights.

Lots of options for the 1911, be it stake on or dovetailed.

I would also recommend having the slide milled for a dovetail front sight (if it isn't already) for ease of installation, especially if you want to try different sights until you find the ones your happy with.

Any recommendations for a shop in the area to mill the slide for a dovetail front sight?
