Default Ohio governor signs law allowing guns in bars

I hope this don't backfire on them. My opinion: Alcoholic & Guns don't mix.

Why would it? Responsible gun owners can enjoy food legally. The law prohibits consumption of alcohol, which I disagree with. Other gun owners may have been already in the bar illegally and possibly consuming alcohol.

I open carry to the bar every Friday for lunch and beer or two. Never had a problem.

Yeah, wouldn't want those Buckeyes to have bar shoot-outs all the time like we do here in Pennsyltucky.

Then again, if we don't have a problem here, why should they have a problem there?

True! I was just thinking about the people that go there to get hammered.
Well, we can hope they have some common scene.

    good for Ohio.

Why would it backfire? Like it has in Pa?

Good for them! Banning firearms in bars is no different then banning them in McDonald's. Assholes with guns are assholes sober or drunk. I'd like to protect myself from assholes.

    edit:
The law also prohibits gun owners from consuming alcohol or being under the influence of alcohol or drugs when they carry their weapons into bars.
Never mind. I guess they still have a way to go!

    Way to go O-Hi-O.

The comments in that article make it painfully obvious why we have such a hard time getting laws changed in our favor. So many "gun-owners" are commenting on how this is going to lead to violence and shoot-outs in bars, and it is apparent that most people commenting didn't actually read what the law says. A lot of "why would someone go to a bar if they can't drink" responses that don't realize that this is more about carrying in restaurants and other places that serve alcohol, not just bars.

I think this is a step in the right direction for Ohio, and despite all the "this will end horribly" comments, this is probably the last you will hear about the new rules. I personally don't see a problem with carrying and having a drink or two, whether it be with dinner at a restaurant or at a bar. I know I've had the occasional drink while carrying, and I don't remember shooting anyone. The way I see it, if you can drink responsibly, why shouldn't you be able to carry responsibly?

Also, I thought I read that this law would also contained language about carrying in places of worship (churches, synagogues, etc.). Was that not mentioned in the article, or was it removed from the law, or was I just imagining the whole thing?

Your entitled to your own opinion. I carry wherever I go and this includes when I go to a bar. Not everyone that drinks is an alcoholic, some of us do know how to be responsible.

Let's not forget that this change also allows them to carry in Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesday, Applebies....and any other restaurant that serves alcohol....it's not just a "bar" bill.
