How difficult is it to apply this type of a finish? Do I need any special tools?

I have that in my armorer's box. Its mainly for touch ups. Just dab it on with a cotton ball and you should be good to go.

Clean the area first of any oil or grease

I have not tried it with a whole firearm, so I don't know how well or long it will last.
    gotta love her ;)

Just a few minor, small scratches on the AR.

You need to make sure the aluminum is completely bare and clean for it to work. I tried it for a small piece of picatinny rail, and it turned out pretty bad. The finish was splotchy and easily rubbed off. For a tiny little nick or scratch it might work better. I would just learn to love the flaws of your gun! You will never keep it perfect if you plan on actually shooting it on a regular basis.

You're welcome to bring it over to Montgomeryville some afternoon and I'll let you use mine to see if you are happy with it.

I wasn't planning on keeping it perfect. It's not like my Mosin with historic nicks and dents. It's just a single scratch on the tube of the butt-stock that it slides on to open and close.

Montgomeryville is not very far at all. I may just take you up on that.
