Where to hunt this deer season?
Hey guys,
So I just moved from New York State about two years ago, and didn't make it out for the buck harvest last fall. I want to go out this year in PA, but didn't bring my truck down from NY ("donated" to my kid sister for college). Do you guys know of any good places to go out for the buck harvest that's relatively (meaning not out in Pittsburg) close to Philadelphia?
Also I have no idea what the bag limits are here, anybody know where I can look that up?
Thanks in advance, Gentleman

Re: Where to hunt this deer season?
The link is for the PA Game Commission web site. There you will find info on state game lands, as well as seasons and bag limits. The hunting digest you get when you buy a license over the counter is available on line as well. I suggest you read through it thoroughly. Very thoroughly.

Evansburg State Park is only about 40 minutes from Philly. I drove through yesterday and saw a beautiful buck in velvet behind the ranger station. He looked like he will be a monster come fall. Shotgun only in there unless you also go out for archery season.

i'm trying to plan a scouting trip up to hickory run state park. drove through it on 476 on my way back from a recent trip to my parents. looks very forested and could prove to be a good area.

Re: Where to hunt this deer season?
nowhere near philly and make sure you are in a hunting approved area, the whole park isn't open to it... good luck :P
if you are going up 476 anyway your better bet (imho) is to stop at the 209 exit and head west, there is a huge game lands there with a ton of food plots and stuffThe first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Re: Where to hunt this deer season?
Good to know there's some good hunting grounds relatively close to my area, but does anyone know where I can go to get the game processed? Wouldn't be very bright of me to slap the thing on top of the rental car and clean/process it myself in the middle of Philadelphia lol

You know what, I've heard of that place. Isn't it in Newtown, kinda near Trenton? Wouldn't mind baggin a nice fat buck and gettin some 'sweet and spicy cheesesteak' lol. THEN... a Taxedermist if it's got a nice crown.
