The pistols cannot and will not be repaired or refurbished; Caracal’s position is that there is no fix for these guns.

“If you own or have access to a Caracal Model C pistol, please do not load or fire your pistol,” warns the Caracal recall (.pdf). Please contact Caracal customer care immediately to arrange to have your Model C pistol returned. Caracal will provide you with a full refund of the purchase price of your Caracal Model C pistol or vouchers for other Caracal products. Unfortunately, the potential safety issues cannot be addressed through a repair of the Model C pistol and all Model C pistols must be returned for refund.”

S&W - an old recall, but still in effect: Covers all 581/681, 581-1/681-1 and 586/686, 586-1/686-1 guns. Contact S&W CS and they'll send you a call tag. The recall was because these guns would sometimes lock-up, especially when using light bullet .357 Magnum ammunition (125 gr - especially Federal). The hole in the firing pin bushing in the recoil shield was large enough that sometimes you would get primer flow around the pin, into the bushing, thus locking up the gun. The cure consisted of replacing the affected parts with those appropriately sized to prevent this. Painless and unnoticeable. An "M" will be stamped on the frame under the yoke, adjacent to the serial number and/or model number.

TAURUS OFFERING REFUND ON CERTAIN MODELS

    According to this website

    http://www.guns.com/2016/07/28/judge...taurus-pistol/

anyone who bought certain junk Taurus pistol models may be able to get a refund. Apparently someone sued the company over a safety defect and won. According to the settlement Taurus will offer an option for owners to send their gun in for an enhancement repair or they can get a refund. This is a good way for anyone to get rid of their embarrassing Taurus POS pistol.

    RUGER Mark IV

    https://ruger.com/dataProcess/markIVRecall/

Ruger recently discovered that all Mark IV™ pistols (including 22/45™ models) manufactured prior to June 1, 2017 have the potential to discharge unintentionally if the safety is not utilized correctly. In particular, if the trigger is pulled while the safety lever is midway between the "safe" and "fire" positions (that is, the safety is not fully engaged or fully disengaged), then the pistol may not fire when the trigger is pulled. However, if the trigger is released and the safety lever is then moved from the mid position to the "fire" position, the pistol may fire at that time.

Although only a small percentage of pistols appear to be affected and we are not aware of any injuries, Ruger is firmly committed to safety and would like to retrofit all potentially affected pistols with an updated safety mechanism.

Until your Mark IV™ pistol has been retrofitted or you verify that it is not subject to the recall, we strongly recommend that you not use your pistol.

All Mark IV™ pistols produced prior to June 1, 2017 are potentially affected and therefore are being recalled. This includes Mark IV™ Target, Hunter, Competition, 22/45™, 22/45™ Lite and 22/45™ Tactical models. These models bear serial numbers beginning with "401" (2017 models) or "WBR" (2016 models).
