    Default Ability to "Like" Posts?

I don't know if this is something you guys would be interested in, but on another forum I frequent you can "like" posts, which would eliminate the need for "+1" fluff posts.

    First off, this isn't Facebook.

Secondly, we already have this ability - it's called the Reputation System.

If you like a post, click on the scales in the upper right corner of that post. You can add positive ("I like this") or negative ("I dislike this") reputation.

While it's not posted publicly, it IS visible to the post author. Though a count of the number of positive reps a post has gotten, displayed somewhere on that post maybe possible - I don't know what would go into coding something like that.

One thing I absolutely hate is the ability to like something but the inability to dislike something.
I'll vote for Romney when he promises not to run in 2016.

I'm aware of Rep but If you actually read my reasoning for this it would be a visible approval of a post without "+1" fluff posts, which just add pages to threads for people who want to boost their post count. I guess the Sticky "We want your ideas" wasn't literal. Also you can only "Approve" of post with Rep. I'm sorry I stole your precious time

Fatwallet.com has a green versus red rating system on threads that is really nice!

The rep system here on PAFOA does let you disapprove as well

I think you may need a certain number of posts or rep points to be able to disapprove posts. I just recently had that option become available to me.

Thanks mpan, that's what I thought it might be but wasn't sure. Also, I get bad rep for what? I posted a suggestion some people rudely disapproved of it, and I defended my position...

From what I see on sites that use "Like" it doesn't cut down on fluff posts. Many hit like and then add their comments.
