New-to-Me Colt 1903 Hammerless
Picked up this little gem this week and went right to the range. It ate 150 rounds (3 different manufacturers) without a single problem. This thing is so slim and feels great in the hand. Barely any recoil and at least as accurate as my G26 (that's accurate!). Super-fun little gun.

Re: New-to-Me Colt 1903 Hammerless
congrats on your new find. these colt auto's are a classic example of quality gun making from the old days. you should get years of fun out of this one. happy shooting, red dog oh by the way now you have to get it's little brother, look for a vest pocket .25, smaller and just as much fun.

Re: New-to-Me Colt 1903 Hammerless
I got my 1903 last year and it is one of my favorite guns to shoot. This design was WAY before its time. The gun makers of today are still struggling to make guns this small and the reliability of this small colt is second to none. Congrats on this piece of history.

Re: New-to-Me Colt 1903 Hammerless
Thanks fellas. You probably already know this, but a word of advice: Never detail strip this gun unless you've got loads of spare time. I detail stripped it after my range trip Tuesday and just got it re-assembled this afternoon. Curiosity got the better of me and I had to take it apart to see how it worked and to clean it. It wasn't even that dirty after 92 years.

Don't forget it's big bore brother, the 1908 Pocket Hammerless (Same gun, only in .380ACP) Once I got the 1908 Pocket, I had collect all three.

Congratulations on the gun. I have one, they are a lot of fun and very accurate. Mine needs a new recoil spring and magazine that I haven't gotten around to yet, going to check online now.

These are the "go to guys" when it comes to springs. My new spring set from Wolff has worked flawlessly in my 1908 .380. I bought the magazine from Numrich and it too has worked flawlessly.
Now, if you want to find an equally nice old pistol, check out the Remington Model 51, a Pederson design that is also a work of art.

Could not agree more. Have had mine for close to 15 years and still fun to shoot. Stripping is easy once you work out how it locks up. Dave_n

Re: New-to-Me Colt 1903 Hammerless
Field stripping these guns is simple, but I was talking about detail stripping and re-assembling one. It is not for the faint of heart!
Dave, are you still using the factory original springs? Mine are original and seem to be just fine. I'm wondering how many people replace them with Wolff springs? I just picked up a spare original Main Spring for the hell of it.
