    Default Half inch bore

Here is the big bore of the S&W 500. I actually traded this gun in a few years ago but got to hold it again when the new owner showed up at my range with it. He didn't offer to let me shoot it but I was glad I got to see it again although I honestly don't miss it.

To be honest, I like the 500 as a back up on dangerous game hunts, other than that I can NOT honestly come up with a realistic purpose for one however that IS a nice pic.

(That said, I do not nor will I ever own one. Might get my old .44 S&W 629 back one day though)

I have one of these with the fiber optic front sight. It is unpractial as with alot of the other guns I own but so much fun and a nice conversation piece. I reload for mine so I have found some really tame recipes that make this shoot like a 357. I dont think I could ever part with mine.

there is nothing like it. it is insane, totally unrequired, completely impractical for just about anything and very hard to justify. i wouldn't have it any other way.
it will spit 350gr bullets out at over 1800ft/s.
i let anybody that wishes, or dares, shoot it. it's very love hate.
hand loading brings out the best(or worst) of it.
the 500 is head and shoulders above the other magnums.
