Default Shortage of 1911 offerings in 9mm

So I'm looking to get a 1911 in 9mm for my wife. I figured I'd kill the proverbial two birds and get it in one of the sweet new 1911 I'm coveting anyway. Only problem there is... that doesn't seem to be an option.

    First pick = S&W 1911E

Already had a thread on this, best looking 1911 I've seen. For my tastes and all. But not only do these seem to not exist, but they don't make a 9mm that I can find. Damnit.

    Second pick = Ruger SR1911

Bought my Taurus before this one was available on the market. Would have been a toss_up if they had been side by side. But again... no 9mm. WTF.

    Third pick = ??

    I'm thinking maybe a Springfield... PX9 130LP. Kimbers are $$$ and I don't want another PT1911. Ugh.

Can't go wrong with a rock island in 9mm. Save you loads of money for mags and ammo. Can be had for well under $500 from centerfiresystems.com.

Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

STI makes quality 1911s in 9mm. The Shadow 9mm looks like quite a pistol, especially for a lady.

Just buy whatever model you want, and get a match grade fully supported feed ramp 9mm barrel installed.

    That's what i did.

Sadly, that gun is long gone.

The pistol was a Springfield Champion. The barrel was a Les Bauer match grade stainless steel barrel with full feed ramp. The work was done by Lock's Philadelphia Gun exchange, this was about 12 years ago or so.

It was a damn fine pistol, i wish i still had it.

IMO the numbers 1911 and 45 naturally go together. Im sure many agree or there would be more 9 mil offerings.
