    Default Fee reduction.

Northampton County Sheriff Miller's efforts back and forth with the county council, county executive and county solicitor have finally apparrently paid off. The county council took formal action to amend the law and reduce the LTCF fee in accord with the $20.00 provided for in the UFA. If I'm reading it right, seems that already effective June 2, 2011, the fee for LTCF in Northampton County is now at the $20.00 specified amount.
(I could always be in error, but that's how I read it.)
    Shoot safe.

Yes that's how it went for me. $20.00 15-20 min. in and out, will mail it to you. I think the sign said 6-8 weeks.

As a fairly new PA resident, I went in last week with my application. I paid my $20 to the cashier (no wait at all) and went downstairs for processing. I was out of there in under 10 minutes. Folks at the Sheriff's office were very nice, and seemed quite genuine.

I'm impressed. I was expecting an experience more like a couple of hours at the New Jersey DMV. :-)

    Update:
It arrived a couple of days ago, a total of just over 3 weeks....

In some PA counties, you are in and out in 15-20 minutes with your license in hand.

If some counties can do it, why not all?

At least you got it for the correct price and without any hassle (except the wait).

Maybe they think that uniform process means that someone in a (sheriff's dept.) uniform processes it
