Default Mossberg 930 Ported Barrels Only?

Got one hell of a deal on a brand new 24" Mossy 930 that I was planning to use for 3 gun. Unfortunately the ported barrel bumps me to open class. Did some research and apparently Mossberg doesn't even offer a non ported choke tube barrel for the 930. Any tight wad adventurous weekend gun smiths out there ever try to cover em up with a barrel clamp or weld or screw 'em shut. Ideas? Anyone?

This one appears to be non-ported, I'd call the vendor to verify.

Looks like there are a number of unported barrels of varying lengths. Also rifled and smooth bores. http://www.lg-outdoors.com/products.asp?cat=11636

Called LG Outdoors, all their Mossy 930 barrels are ported except for the slug barrels which are fully rifled and won't help me much :-) Thanks for the heads up though.

    Sorry Bro!

Maybe a good machinist could weld them shut for a reasonable price?

Heard through the grapevine that Mossberg is now offering a 24" ribbed, choke tubed, non ported barrel. Gotta give them a call tomorrow to confirm. I'll keep you guys posted...

If you go t the multi gun section of the Brian Enos forum there has been a length thread on the 930. 24" non-ported barrels are made, if not readily available yet.

Just talked to Edna in at the TX facility and she's sending me a non-ported 24" ribbed barrel threaded for chokes. She said there's been a lot of interest in that particular barrel and they are starting to mass produce them but for some reason some of the reps will still tell you it's unavailable??? Anyway, mine should be here this week.

Hummmm.... That's not what the scores revealed during the Memorial Day shoot at Oley :-)

    I'm jealous of your 2011.....
