I find it interesting that, in honoring Sheriff Weaknecht, they forgot to mention another group who was vital in those seminars at Cabelas in Hamburg: the FOAC.

Regardless, I've been extremely happy with Sheriff Weaknecht and the work he's done to make it far, far easier to obtain a PA LTCF than it was under he predecessor, Sheriff Jozwiak.

    Thanks for the link.

    SHERIFF STREAMLINES RTC PROCESS
We often report on sheriffs or police chiefs who seem to go out of their way
to make it harder for citizens to obtain Right-to-Carry permits.

Now it’s our pleasure to report the other side of that same coin.

Sheriff Eric J. Weaknecht of Berks County, Pa., is constantly seeking new ways to make it easier and more convenient for law-abiding citizens to obtain a Pennsylvania license to carry firearms. Since taking office in 2008, Sheriff Weaknecht has streamlined the application process, eliminating unnecessary paperwork and reducing the time it takes to obtain a license from 45 days to, in most cases, instantaneously.

Sheriff Weaknecht has also established six additional locations in Berks County for residents to apply for a license, including a new sheriff’s department substation located at the Reading Regional Airport where residents can obtain a carry license. For one day each month, residents may obtain a license at five municipal locations throughout the county. For more information, visit www.CountyofBerks.com/Sheriff.

In February 2011, Sheriff Weaknecht even conducted seminars on Pennsylvania firearm laws during the National Rifle Association weekend at Cabela’s sporting goods store in Hamburg, Pa. The sheriff’s department also issued licenses to carry firearms to Berks County residents visiting the store at that time.

    Hats off to Sheriff Weaknecht.

I noticed a hell of a big difference between the Berks County Sheriff's Office and the Philly PD when it came to getting a carry permit.

    Hats off to Sheriff Weaknecht.
