    Default Berks LTCF Application.

I moved here a little over a year ago from Carbon County. My question is, does the Berks County Sheriff require references from Berks County? I know legally he should not; however, is seems most do. My permit is coming up for renewal, so I just want some time to look if needed.

    Thanks, be safe

Just use whatever references you have...as long as they're not relatives...don't worry about where they live.

The above is the Berks application, only requirement according to it are they not be family members.

Something I found intersting on the FAQ page:

    (8) What should I do if I am stopped by a law enforcement officer while carrying a weapon with my Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms?
Immediately tell the officer that you are carrying a weapon and that you are licensed to do so while your hands are visible to the officer. Follow the officer's instructions completely. For safety reasons, the officer may secure your weapon while they verify your license to carry firearms.

Last I checked PA didn't have a duty to inform clause.

Thanks for the link!! Last I checked you are right; no duty to inform. Nor will I.

I work around LEO's all day in a class 3 city and the ones i know arent really concerned. they are only looking for the usual banger suspects and assume everyone is armed but dont ask for firearms if its not a felony stop to begin with. Most of them are gun guys to begin with and would be more interested in how it shot or how much you paid. Not all LEO's are Nazi's like most would make you believe they just want to make it home every night to their kids. my 2 cents

Welcome to Berks! Sherriff Weaknecht is a good guy and like M&PEE says he is very pro 2nd amendment. Make sure you vote for his re-election!

Just in case you didn't hear about this yet. Be prepared for a possible "altercation" if you're in Philly and decide to OC.

That's ok. I'll be sure to give them my Utah permit. That will make them think

Actually in their so called Florida loophole illegal law they mention Utah as a good to go reciprocal license/permit.
