Are all reloading dies the same thread size?
I bought a RCBS press to reload BMG rounds. I also want to reload 223.
Do I just need to pick up the dies, or since the round is so dramatically smaller, are the dies smaller, requiring a different press?

Same size, same thread. One of the few things that the industry can agree on. I use Lee dies in an RCBS press now.

Re: Are all reloading dies the same thread size?
The dies made for standard reloading presses are all the same thread size. You can use RCBS, Hornady, Lee, Lyman, Redding, etc. in each others presses. The only differences would be the dies for the Dillion Square Deal B press and the old Lyman 310 hand press (but you can get adapters for the Lyman to fit into new presses). I have an RCBS, and 2 Lyman presses. My dies are RCBS, Lyman, Hornady, and Lee. I have been reloading for 32 years now and when I needed a new set of dies for a new caliber I just bought whatever was cheapest at the time. The only thing that I have done consistantly was to always buy carbide resizer dies for straight walled pistol cartridges (it's just easier).

I think he is asking if there is a difference between 7/8- 14" standard dies and 1 1/2" BMG dies. He didn't say what model RCBS press he has which is why I put a link to the RCBS site as they offer conversions.

Re: Are all reloading dies the same thread size?
I have the ammomaster 2 . . .
Direct from RCBS's page:
While still set up to use standard 7/8"-14 thread dies and standard shell holders to load most any pistol or rifle caliber, the addition of the .50 BMG 1 1/2" Die Kit(88705) will allow you to load from .25 ACP to .50 BMG.
I guess I'm okay.

As most have stated, if it is marked standard, it should work for all presses.

Lyman die threads seem different, and Lyman dies will not thread into a Harrell's turret press.
