Re: So, you're visiting/moving to/passing through Philadelphia
Thank you and great job to all the posters so far in this thread. I was born and raised in South Philly and hate to hear all the one sided posts about Philadelphia. I wanted to post something like the op but did not get around to it because I wanted to do it when I was not upset about reading some Philly bashing. I know it isn't perfect but it ain't bad as a very large city goes. I like where I live now but I will always be a Philly boy at heart.
There are tons of great things that a lot of people will never experance because of all the negative things said about Philly, mostly from people who have very little first hand knowledge about the city. Some people just plain suck.
If you're gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough.

Re: So, you're visiting/moving to/passing through Philadelphia
Thanks, I thought they had re-opened for some reason. Dropped them off the list.
Also added some additional resources for Philadelphia residents, like how to find out who your City Council and State reps are.
Thanks again for all the suggestions, and I'll add more stuff as it comes up.
Have a good weekend, all,

This is a good candidate for a sticky in this Philadelphia sub-forum.

Updated to include a link to TransitView, which is the most useful thing to happen to SEPTA since electrification.
I was tempted to add a suggestion to not dispense parenting advice while riding SEPTA, but don't want people to use this thread as an excuse to upgrade to a higher caliber BUG just because they're planning on riding the bus to work in the morning.

Updated to add Mayor Nutter's Twitter feed and a couple tweets about firearms.
Also added the Philly Watchdog app, which I haven't used but is supposed to help report corruption. I imagine we can find ample use for it at 10th and Spring Garden.

Re: So, you're visiting/moving to/passing through Philadelphia
Thanks for the update.
I just downloaded the Philly watchdog app and I may sign up for a twitter account just to stay up to date with what individuals are saying. Mayor Nutter's twitter feed may help me understand how he is trying to run the city of Philadelphia and what his views are.
