Montgomery County Sherriff officer doesn't like carrying 9mm
As I was heading out to work this morning, an officer from the Sherriff's department was walking through my apartment complex and delivering a notice to someone. As I walked by, I greeted him.
"Hope you're not serving a warrant!" I smiled.
"Nah, nothing like that." He smiled back.
"Hey question for you - what are you guys carrying these days?"
"Oh, the department issues 9mm."
"Ugh, really? You're killin' me."
"Tell me about it! We've been trying to get a bigger caliber for years."
"I carry a .40 myself. I hope you're at least using Hornady ammo or something."
He laughed. "You know, the department is buying us all new guns - but they're gonna be 9mm too."
My girlfriend chastised me afterwards. "Come on, why do you have to pick on him first thing on a Monday? Now he's going to go back to his cruiser and cry his eyes out over his underpowered pistol. "Junior

Re: Montgomery County Sherriff officer doesn't like carrying 9mm
That is sadly disappointing and funny at the same time. Now he just has to get enough of the other officers to agree that 9mm is to weak and try and get the Sheriff to buy something with a little more 'power'. I think Centre County Sheriff/Deputy's carry what ever they want. I've seen them with Glocks/SIGs/1911s. To bad most departments only issue one thing and don't let them carry anything else.

I've never understood it, but it seems like a good many places that issue a gun to their employees like to go with 9mm. I honestly was shocked when my friends in the military told me that their issued sidearms were 9mm!

9mm here as well, will be ordering Hornady Critical Defense hollow points for carry ammo.
But none of that matters, cause I don't plan on ever having to fire it in self defense o:H&K USP Compact 9mm//SA XD-9//SA XDs 45//S&W 442
