300 win mag., 308 purchase, any thoughts?

im wanting to pick up a 300 win mag.or a 308, im into the tactical look so that might limit options. i would like some opinions or thoughts on which one to buy. cost is not a limiting factor (within reason), and i do have a j. unertl 10x scope for the rifle that is currently mounted on a model 70 30-06. the scope is very arguably one of the best scopes ever made. i wanna do the scope some justice and put it on a rifle for which it was designed to be on.

cheap brass available

better options in the BC department
depending on barrel length...max distance is probably 1,200 yards

300WM pros
extended range
can use heavier bullets which = higher BC

300WM cons
harder recoil
uses more powder
expensive if you must purchase factory ammo

If you are in love with the 30 cal bullets...I say get the 300WM and use the Hornady 208gr bullets.

Personally, if it was my money, I'd get a 7MM over the 30cal...don't get me wrong I like my 308, but there are so many better options out there. If I didn't have so much invested in my 308, I would have gone 260 for mid range work. I would have gone 7WSM for longer ranges if I didn't have the 338LM.

I don't have either 300 or .308 I do have a 7MM Rem Magnum and love that rifle
Model 700 Remington.
